Sigma Aldrich are a large International chemical company with the UK purchase ledger based in Poole. To free up space they started to scan their Purchase Ledger Invoices some nine years ago. Then, limited hard drive storage space meant the only option was to hold the images on CD Rom's with ongoing scanning being done every three months or so when space became an issue.

They have maintained the service and just phone when a collection is required. The only difference now is that the Images are held on a server with access to the archive over the network to each of the account payable staff. Indexing is by the single unique Accounts Payable number.
